This month I’ve collected some of our active members favourite movie lines. Let the movie line inspire your story – but do your best to write in an entirely different genre than the originating movie.
Don’t just use the line in dialogue, try to let it form your story, for example if you select “Roads? Where we’re going we don’t need roads.” You could write a story about a world without roads, or a place where traveling via road is too dangerous to consider. Perhaps even a band of long distance travelers being brave and heading off the beaten path to find something good – but finding something dangerous instead.
And without further ado, here are the lines:
“Resistance is futile.”
“I’ll be back.”
“The cold never bothered me anyway.”
“We all go a little mad sometimes.”
“Take your stinking paws off me you damn, dirty ape.”
“I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way.”
“As you wish.”
“Long live the new flesh.”
“‘You’re gonna need a bigger boat.”
“You have 30 seconds to comply.”
“I’d buy that for a dollar.”
“It’s not the years honey, it’s the mileage.”
“You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”
“If you once again try to harm me or one of my companions, my patience with you will expire.”
“Yeah I got a Plan B: making Plan A work!”
“Your salvation doesn’t interest me. Mine does.”
“I don’t like warriors. Too narrow-minded, no subtlety. And worse, they fight for hopeless causes. Honor? Hah! Honor’s killed millions of people, it hasn’t saved a single one.”
Points if you post the fiction in your own space (or publish it) and then link back here. Bonus points if you knew the originating movie for every one of the quotes(without using Google or IMDB ;p )(no need to waste time telling us though, just walk tall knowing you are the greatest f the geeks).
I know all but like 4 of them. I forget which one’s mine (or if I ever even said mine). I suspect it was “I’d buy that for a dollar” but it was probably “Go to the Winchester, grab a nice cold pint and wait for this to all blow over”.
There were a few double ups, two (and even three) people giving me the same quote. Just goes to show how great some of these movies are 🙂
